Through The Twilight - Lyrics & Backstory

Verse 1

The lights, went out

And everything just faded into grey

Caught, us out

Cut you out and watch you fade away

Chorus

If I, could reach through the twilight

Then I, would find my way

Fly, through the distant starlight

And there, we’d meet again

Verse 2

As time, moves on

I look outside for reason to make sense

To, find out

Answers on how this could be the end

Chorus

If I, could reach through the twilight

Then I, would find my way

Fly, through the distant starlight

And there, we’d meet again

Final Chorus

If I, could reach through the twilight

Then I, would find my way

Fly, through the distant starlight

And there, we’d meet again

Through The Twilight - Backstory

This song was about the sense of loss of a loved one. Not so much personal, but the lyrics emerged from a shared sense of loss. While writing this song, India was going through an absolutely devastating second wave of the covid pandemic. I was fortunate at the time not to have lost an immediate family member but all through April, May, each day we either heard of or encountered news of people passing away and lost to this devastating outbreak. People you've known, family members of people you know, work with, live next door to or even those you didn't know. I remember a point in that time when I would want to avoid watching any news, avoid reading messages, avoid having to talk to others just to avoid hearing of another tragic loss. Although we were locked inside our home in those times and shielded from what healthcare workers and families of those affected were seeing, the sense of fear, frustration grief and loss was so palpable you could feel it everywhere. It's unlike anything i've experienced before and it's hard to describe. A sense of collective loss and grief is the best I can describe it.

This one is dedicated to the many for whom this loss was deeply personal and hoping beyond the grief they find some hope with time.
