An Infinite Delirium - Lyrics & Backstory
Updated: Sep 25, 2020
Verse 1
Set the stage
For a new story of power & glory
Turn a page
Scroll all day, forward and play
This web of lies is well disguised as news
Pre Chorus
Get your mind around what I have to say now
Take the bait, cut the debate now
Hear what I say, what I say, what I say
We’re going to do this my way, my way
Turn the news on, read my papers
Look at your phone, do you feel the danger
Hear what I say, what I say, what I say
We’re going to do this my way, my way
Chorus
Defy, my infinite wisdom
With your version or perversion of the truth
Feed of, my blind delirium
Replacing parts of me, with twisted parts of you
Verse 2
Burn away
Those who deny, my righteous point of view
Bow, obey
The few will see, they can be broken too
Reality is now what we make it to be
Pre Chorus
Get your mind around what I have to say now
Take the bait, cut the debate now
Hear what I say, what I say, what I say
We’re going to do this my way, my way
Turn the news on, read my papers
Look at your phone, do you feel the danger
Hear what I say, what I say, what I say
We’re going to do this my way, my way
Chorus
Defy, my infinite wisdom
With your version or perversion of the truth
Feed of, my blind delirium
Replacing parts of me, with twisted parts of you
Bridge
Chorus
Defy, my infinite wisdom
With your version or perversion of the truth
Feed of, my blind delirium
Replacing parts of me, with twisted parts of you
An Infinite Delirium - The Backstory
One of the phenomenons that is hard to ignore is the impact of propaganda, misinformation and sowing the seeds for ideas by those in power to manipulate the masses. It's been around a long time but never has it been as blatant and widespread and as effective as it is today. Look at the leadership of several countries today and there is a pattern. Observe the way narratives are created, the way they are targeted specifically at preconceived biases or existing weaknesses of people and how effectively mass media, social media is used to propagate these intentional narratives to solidify power and control.
As this pause created by the pandemic allowed everyone to take a step back and look at things from 'a wider perspective', this plague of deliberate misinformation, twisting of truth and propaganda is perhaps one of the toughest battles of our times. In recent times, I've come to see numerous people I know (or thought I knew) in different countries often echoing the ideology politicians in their countries are feeding through media without questioning or any critical thinking. These ideas are not formed through personal experience or real world experiences and interactions with other humans. They come from a crafted narrative purposefully designed to evoke a deep seeded emotional reaction or underlying bias and this playbook political tactic has created a state of delirium through media and communication channels. We're in times where truth is obscure. We're forming opinions and taking stands not based on what we experience first hand but what we're being fed through newspapers, tv and screens that we can not put down. In other terms, led into an infinite delirium.
